I had a really great show opening up for Patterson Hood last week. For those of you who didn't make it, you missed out on a truly amazing show by Patterson. In other news, I officiated the wedding of my friends Carrie Akre and Marty Lund last weekend. Not quite sure why they thought I'd make a good Padre for their wedding, but it was a damned good time.

I have a confession to make... I like boobs. I like boobs a lot. So, when I was asked to play a breast cancer benefit, I had to accept. Seriously, I lost my mother in law a while back to breast cancer, and ever since then, this has been one cause I can really try and get behind. I'll be playing this Saturday with Carrie Akre in Woodinville at a wine tasting event to benefit the 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk. It's a $20 donation, but it's going to be catered, there's wine, it'll be a small, intimate show, and it's for a really good cause. Details are on the shows page. I'd love to see some familiar faces. I'll even be giving out Radio Nationals keychain bottle openers (the famed "doohickeys") to anyone who shows up.

I just added the "Rock Lottery" show on July 14th to the shows page. This sounds like more fun than people should be allowed. According to their press release, the event is as follows: "Twenty-five hand picked
musicians meet at 10:00AM at the evening's performance venue. These volunteers are organized into five bands through a lottery based chance selection. The five different groups are then released to practice at different locations. The musicians have twelve hours to create a band name and three to five songs (with a one cover song limit). The bands will then return to the venue and perform what they have created in front of a waiting audience." It's all a benefit for the Vera Project, so come out and see what we come up with.

Hey Kids. Just a quick update on what's been going on around here. I'm continuing to play guitar with Carrie Akre, both as a duo and as part of her new band. Be sure to check out her web site for updates on upcoming shows. I'm also just did a couple of shows with Lucky Lawrence (The Souvenirs) out in Roslyn at the Brick Tavern this past weekend. It was a hoot! On the 28th of this month, I'll be playing a show at the Tractor Tavern, again with Dylan Rieck on cello and Jeff Fielder on guitar, dobro, and banjo. Good times!

Lots of shows just went up on the shows page. I'm working on new stuff, and hopefully I can debut some of it at these shows this summer. Look for a full band in the Fall, and an album as soon as it's ready. In other news, I found out that the song Black Lung that I recorded with Radio Nationals was used during a rally to try and save Blair Mountain from Mountaintop Removal. If you're not aware, this is the style of mining some genius came up with where they literally blow the entire top off of a mountain and scoop out the coal. I find it incredibly ironic that they are trying to destroy the site of an historic labor battle fought by coal miners by mining it. Maybe instead of holding rallys on the capitol steps its time for a bunch of people to do it like they did in 1923. Just head up to the top of the mountain armed to the teeth. That'll get somebody's attention.

Happy New Year! I just realized I haven't done an update to this page since October, which was the last time my friends in The Drams were in town. Well, they're coming back on the 30th of this month, and I'll be playing with them at the Tractor. Supposdly, I'll be joined by the talented (yet elusive) Dylan Rieck on cello. I'll believe it when it happens, personally. But, if he actually can make it out, it should make for one hell of a show. Its a Tuesday night, but the show starts at 8:30, so there's plenty of time to either go home early on a school night, or stay and see some great bands while drinking yourself silly.
By the way, thanks to everyone who helped get out the vote last November. Now, let's hold our elected leaders accountable to the changes they promised.

Hey kids. The show in Portland with the Drams rocked. It was great seeing my old friends from Slobberbone. They played a damned fine set, and even pulled out a couple of the old songs. Speaking
of shows, I have a good one coming up on October 25th (not the 24th like some of you may have heard. I'll be playing with my friends Paul Benoit and Tony Fulgham (North Twin). The
show is free, so come on down and have a beer with me. Check the shows page for updates.

Just a quick update for anyone who actually reads this stuff. I will NOT be playing guitar with Carrie Akre this week at
Chop Suey. She is playing, but without me. Speaking of playing shows without me, I will be opening for the Drams in Portland,
but not at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle. The Tractor show will feature North Twin, some of the nicest folks I know who also make damned fine
music (and Rick from Radio Nationals is in the band as well). Definitely get to that show early. And, if you happen to be in Portland, come out to see me play with the Drams at
Lola's.
That's about all the news I've got. Tomorrow is Washington State's primary election. Remember to vote!

Yet another long period with no updates to the site. Sorry 'bout that. I've been waiting until I had enough news to share, and I think we've hit that point. I've been playing a couple of shows with my friend Carrie Akre, and its been a ton of fun. Carrie sang the duet on Katie Dear with me on the last Radio Nationals record. We've been doing that one, and I've been playing guitar with her for a few shows. Look for us to play more together in the future. This weekend I'll be headed back to Yakima, WA (the "Palm Springs of Washington") for a show at the Yakima Sports Center. Last time I was there, they made a special drink called the "Woo Woo". Very exciting! Seriously, this has quickly become one of my favorite clubs to play. If you know anyone in the Yakima area, send them down to the show. I'll be playing with my friends in West Valley Highway.
Now, for the big news... There will be a benefit for Darcy Burner (who's running for Congress against Dave Reichert) at the Tractor Tavern on August 28th. I'll be playing 5-6 songs at it with some guys you might have heard of... Radio Nationals! We're coming out of retirement (or in Richard's case, out of the closet) for this one show. The Tractor knew we couldn't resist the offer to help get the Republicans out of office and restore some sanity to this country. More info to come as we find it out. Keep checking the shows page for details.

Well, its been one hell of a month. My good friends in Two Cow Garage
made their way out from Columbus, Ohio. After a couple of fabulous
shows (including the super secret "Doghouse" in Stanwood), they
are heading out on the road with I Can Lick Any SOB in the House.
If they come to your town, definitely go to the show. Two of the
best live bands I've ever seen on one bill.
In other news, I will be playing the Tractor Tavern on March 22nd with North Twin. For those of you not familiar, North Twin is Rick Cranford's new band. So, two former Radio Nationals will be sharing the same bill. Good times. I've been sitting around the house, starting to actually work on some new songs. If everything goes as planned, I may be playing some new stuff at this show, so come on down!

Hey everyone. Sorry for the lack of updates. I just got back from a
great west coast tour with Mike Damron and his new project, Thee Loyal
Bastards. Much fun was had by all. Stay tuned for another one of the
infamous tour diaries featuring the further adventures of the Invisivan.
Also, I've got a couple of shows coming up. February 13th at Nectar
and March 4th at the Triple Door. The Nectar show will be early and
cheap and features Amelia White from Portland. The show on March 4th
should be a lot of fun as well. Its a "singer/songwriter in the round" event,
which means all the performers are seated on the stage at once, and
take turns singing our songs and telling the stories behind them.
Check the shows page for details.

Hey, I just added a last minute show at the Tractor Tavern. I'll be playing tonight with Grain & Demise, featuring Kirk Rundstrom of Split Lip Rayfield tonight at the Tractor Tavern. Come on down if you're so inclined...

Welcome to the new site. I'll be updating it with more content as it comes.
But, for now I've updated the shows page
with all of my upcoming dates. Please sign the mailing list and send
me an e-mail to let me know what you think of the site. I also got my
page on My Space up and running, for those of you who prefer to go there.

I've got some upcoming shows. In December I'll be playing a couple of
shows in Seattle. First is the John Lennon Jam at the Crocodile
Cafe on December 8th. Richard from Radio Nationals and I will be
playing together on a couple of John Lennon songs. More info is
at: http://www.myspace.com/johnlennonjam
Then, on December 13th I'll be playing at the Triple Door for the CD release party for "Songs for Shelter" to benefit homeless families. After that, I'll be headed down the West Coast with my good friend Mike D. from I Can Lick any SOB in the House. Stay tuned for dates and venues.
11.1.2005
Sorry for the lack of updates. Anyway, we officially put Radio
Nationals to bed a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to everyone who came
to the show. It was really great to get to play all the songs one
last time in front of such a great home crowd.
In other news, I donated "Scream" from Place You Call Home to a CD called Songs for Shelter, released by the Fremont Public Association. Its a benefit for homeless families and several great Seattle musicians contributed songs to it. There will be a record release party at the Triple Door on December 13th, and yours truly will be there playing a couple of songs. Come on down and help me support a worthy cause.
9.14.2005
Okay, I still haven't gotten around to finishing this site, so I'll just let everyone know right here that I have a show coming up on October 6th at Conor Byrnes in Seattle.
